NORFOLK, Va. (Kyodo) Rehabbing right-hander Koji Uehara revealed Monday he is set to rejoin the Baltimore Orioles ahead of Thursday’s game against the Minnesota Twins.
Uehara, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list just before the start of the season after suffering a left hamstring strain in a spring exhibition game on March 18, pitched a scoreless sixth inning on Monday, allowing a single and striking out one for Triple-A Norfolk.
“I am always ready and prepared (to come back),” said Uehara. “I need to improve my accuracy a little with my breaking ball. If the fear factor goes, I think I will be in good form. I’m always thinking I want to hurry up and come back.”
Uehara was to continue to tune up with Triple-A Norfolk until Tuesday. He is scheduled to leave for Minnesota on Wednesday.
