Hiroshima Carp right-hander Kenta Maeda and four relievers limited the Chunichi Dragons to one hit in a 3-0 win in a preseason game Tuesday.

Maeda pitched three solid innings to set the pace and Puerto Rican right-hander Giancarlo Alvarado followed with two perfect innings at Nagoya Dome.

Jeff Fiorentino, batting fifth for the Carp, went 2-for-2 with a walk.

Chunichi starter Yudai Kawai had to leave in the third inning after being hit in the left leg by a comebacker.

At Fukuoka’s Yahoo Dome, Saitama Seibu right-hander Takayuki Kishi and Softbank right-hander D.J. Houlton threw three scoreless innings.

The Lions got three consecutive hits from Takumi Kuriyama, Hiroyuki Nakajima and Takeya Nakamura in the fourth off Yasushi Kamiuchi.

Yuichi Honda and Hitoshi Tamura each had two hits for the Hawks.
