Sakura Yokomine plans to play more tournaments on the U.S. LPGA Tour this year.
“I would like to achieve good results overseas this year. I don’t care too much about winning the Japanese money title again,” Yokomine said Friday at a party to celebrate her first money title.
The 24-year-old is scheduled to make her first start of the year at the HSBC Women’s Champions in Singapore beginning Feb. 25.
“I may often pick an overseas tournament over a domestic one if more than one event occurs in the same week,” Yokomine said.
Yokomine overtook once runaway money leader Shinobu Moromizato on the final day of the 2009 season by winning the Japan LPGA Tour Championship.
