Hitomi Sakamoto, a six-time world champion in the women’s non-Olympic 51-kg class, will come out of retirement, the Japan Wrestling Federation said Saturday.
Sakamoto will wrestle at 48 kg this time as she sets her sights on the 2012 London Olympics.
She moved up to 55 kg in her attempt to earn a berth at last year’s Beijing Olympics but was denied a spot by Saori Yoshida, who went on to win her second consecutive Olympic gold medal.
