After a two-year absence, David Palmer has made a successful return to the bj-league.
Palmer, an Osaka Evessa forward, scored 19 points on Saturday and had a 20-point outing on Sunday, helping the Western Conference power earn a series sweep over the Rizing Fukuoka.
Over the weekend, he was 5-for-8 from 3-point range, including 2-for-2 in a productive 23-minute performance in the series opener while also grabbing eight rebounds on Saturday and five more a day later.
Palmer is the Circle K Sunkus Player of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.
A former Southern Utah University standout, Palmer was the bj-league’s 2006-07 MVP, when Osaka won its second of three straight league titles. He played for the NBA Development League’s Dakota Wizards the following season, then spent a year away from professional basketball.
The veteran forward is averaging 19.8 points per game for Osaka, which is 3-1 entering this weekend’s games against the visiting Shiga Lakestars (4-2).
