The Kameda gym said Wednesday it will appeal Daiki Kameda’s points defeat to WBA flyweight champion Denkaosen Kaowichit of Thailand and plans to ask the WBA for a rematch.
American judge Levi Martinez and Silvestre Abainza of the Philippines ruled Tuesday’s bout in Osaka 115-113 in favor of Denkaosen while American Sergio Caiz called the bout a 114-114 draw.
“We can’t accept this result,” Kameda gym chief Noriyuki Igarashi told a news conference. “(Daiki) led the match by three points overall. We are going to protest in writing and send video footage immediately.”
