Tanihara fires third-round 64

IBARAKI, Osaka Pref. (Kyodo) Hideto Tanihara matched the best score of the third round to charge into a tie for the lead with in-form Azuma Yano at the Asia-Pacific Panasonic Open on Saturday.

Tanihara made four consecutive birdies in a round of 64 to finish the day level with Yano, last week’s ANA Open winner who shot a 65, with a 12-under-par total of 198 at the Ibaraki Country Club’s West Course in Osaka Prefecture.

The joint leaders were one shot clear of Kaname Yokoo, who had been two strokes in front at the top after the first round Thursday and at the completion of the suspended second round on Saturday morning.
