Japan came from behind twice to edge Turkey in five sets to claim its second straight victory at the women’s volleyball World Grand Prix on Saturday.

Asako Tajimi played a pivotal role in the final set as the host posted a 21-25, 25-16, 17-25, 25-19, 15-12 win in the preliminary round of the 12-nation tournament.

Turkey dropped to 1-1.

In the other match played at Kobe Sports Park, the United States rebounded from an opening-day loss to Turkey with a 25-16, 25-17, 25-18 drubbing of winless Kazakhstan.

The top five teams will join host Japan in the final round to be held in Yokohama from July 9-13.
