Nomura to retire from judo

Three-time defending Olympic champion Tadahiro Nomura is to retire from competitive judo after missing out on a place on Japan’s team for this summer’s Beijing Olympics, sources close to the wrestler said Sunday. Nomura saw his dreams of a fourth Olympic gold medal shattered after he was beaten in the semifinals of the men’s 60-kg class by Daisuke Asano at the National Weight Class Invitational Tournament on Saturday.
