Short-track speed skater Yuka Kamino, who appeared in the 2002 and 2006 Winter Olympics, said Monday she will retire from competition. Kamino, 27, said she intends to leave her team at the end of this month as she aims to pursue a coaching career and also plans to do a study abroad in Canada. “After my result in Turin it became increasingly difficult for me to maintain my motivation both physically and mentally,” said Kamino, who placed seventh in the women’s 1,500 meters in Turin.
