SAPPORO – Ski jumper Yukio Sakano pulled off a podium finish in third place at the HTB Cup behind winner Jure Sinkovec of Slovenia on Saturday. Sakano had jumps of 127 and 121.5 meters to collect 241.3 points at the K-120 Okurayama hill. Sinkovec had the day’s longest leap of 139 meters in gusty conditions en route to a winning total of 257.9. Takanobu Okabe, a member of Japan’s gold medal-winning team at the 1998 Nagano Olympics, jumped 132.5 meters to place third after the first round of jumps but slumped into sixth after traveling only 109 meters on his second attempt.
