YOKOHAMA – Former WBC superflyweight champion Katsushige Kawashima said Tuesday he will challenge WBA superflyweight champion Alexander Munoz of Venezuela at Yokohama Cultural Gymnasium on Jan. 14, 2008. “I’m glad I can fight (title matches) this many times,” seventh-ranked Kawashima said at a news conference. “I think Munoz’s punches are harder than people imagine and the one who can endure will win.” The 33-year-old Kawashima, who holds a 32-6 record with 21 knockouts, will enter the ring for the eighth world title match of his career. Munoz, 28, is 31-2 with 27 KOs and has won all six world title matches against Japanese opponents.
