Harada takes lead at Japan Open

Synchronized swimmer Saho Harada took the lead after the solo technical routine on the opening day of the Japan Open, which doubles as the national championships, Wednesday.

Harada received 48.250 points, leading fellow Japanese Masako Tachibana by 2.666 before Saturday’s final, while Japan won the free combination event on 97.500 points, 6.833 clear of Imura Synchro Club.

The four-day event at Tokyo Tatsumi International Swimming Center features Japan and 11 other nations, including Italy, Canada and Greece.
