Ueta, Yanagimoto to stay on

Kyodo News

Tatsuya Ueta, head coach of the Japanese men’s volleyball team, and Shoichi Yanagimoto, that of the women’s team, will continue to coach their respective teams until the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Japan Volleyball Association officials said Thursday.

The coaches could have been replaced if they had gotten worse-than-expected results at the world championships in Japan from Oct. 31 to Dec. 3. The Japanese men finished eighth and the women sixth, both similar to their world rankings before the championships.
