Japan rallies for 2nd-round win

Led by Miyuki Takahashi’s team-best 19 points, Japan rallied from two sets down to beat Serbia and Montenegro in the second round of the Women’s Volleyball World Championship, keeping alive its slim chance of winning a medal for the first time in 28 years.

The host handed the Balkan side its first loss of the tourney by scores of 18-25, 22-25, 25-18, 25-21, 15-11 to improve its record to 4-2 in Pool E.
