SAPPORO – Akira Higashi had a pair of solid jumps to claim his third straight title at the TVh Cup ski jumping meet Sunday.
Higashi leaped 129 meters on his first jump and followed it up with a 133-meter effort on the K-120 Okurayama hill in Sapporo, collecting a total of 273.1 points.
Kazuya Yoshioka, who won the national large-hill crown last week, finished 3.1 points behind Higashi after jumps of 130.5 and 132 meters. Hideharu Miyahira took third with 260.2 after posting the day’s longest leap of 135 meters on his second attempt.
Yoshiko Kasai dominated the women’s field with the two longest leaps of 122 and 113 meters for 216.5 points. Ayumi Watase was a distant second with 125.2 points.
