SEOGWIPO, South Korea (Kyodo) J. League champions Yokohama F. Marinos failed in their bid to claim the title of best club side of East Asia, falling 3-1 to Suwon Bluewings of South Korea and finished third in the "A3" East Asian Champions Cup on Saturday.

K. League runnersup Pohang Steelers beat Chinese Super League champions Shenzhen Jianlibao 2-0 in the second game of the day to come second on five points. Shenzhen finished without a point.

J. League side Kashima Antlers won the inaugural East Asian Champions Cup in Tokyo two years ago with last year's title going to South Korea's Seongnam Ilhwa.
