Orix Buffaloes keen on Kiyohara

Kyodo

The Orix Buffaloes are interested in acquiring popular slugger Kazuhiro Kiyohara if he leaves the Yomiuri Giants, Orix manager Akira Ogi said Saturday.

Kiyohara, a 37-year-old native of Osaka Prefecture, is reportedly in talks with Yomiuri on his future after being limited to 40 appearances this past season under first-year manager Tsuneo Horiuchi.

“If Kiyohara keeps on good terms with various people (and leaves the Giants), he is the player Osaka definitely wants to have. I think many fans in Osaka are waiting for him to come and I feel the same way,” Ogi said.
