Shiseido’s Bar S is one of those rare cocktail bars that sits comfortably between classy and casual.
With decor and service worthy of an intimate private bar, it sits atop Shiseido Parlour in Ginza and offers a relaxed atmosphere beneath the open sky.
Rich, earthy colors set the tone — subdued lighting, dark wooden floors paired with deep purple upholstery and plush carpeting, plus a cozy VIP area complete with comfy leather chairs and a flickering mock fireplace. The piece de resistance, though, is the open skylight directly above the main bar. As the sun sets, a huge yet delicate hanging sculpture casts moving shadows across the room, and those sitting at the bar can feel the cool breeze of the fresh air above them.
Shiseido Parlour President and CEO Makoto Suzuki says the "S" in Bar/S represents many things — salon, smile, special, share, sun, shadow. It definitely stands for sipping in style.
Cocktails start at ¥1,200, with beers from ¥800 and whiskey and wine from ¥1,100. Light dishes, including salads, grilled chicken and sandwiches, are available from ¥950. Service charge is ¥1,000 after 8 p.m.
This is a non-smoking bar, but there is a separate smoking area avaialable.
