Regarding the Sept. 10 article "City of Glendale readies another resolution against Hashimoto": If Osaka Mayor Toru Hashimoto is taking the position that the enslavement of "comfort women" for the needs of the Imperial Army is justified as much as the use of thousands of Japanese "comfort women" by forces of occupation of Japan, then maybe we can understand the basis of his amoral analysis. Hashimoto is typical of the traditional Japanese male perception of women in that the female is viewed as inferior, subservient, relegated to a "kept" status and an object to satisfy sexual needs.

Maybe one day, the forces of good will prevail and find justice for all the exploited comfort women both living and dead.
