New Zealand for whale-watchers

We welcome tourists to our land, but for now we’re asking people to please stop coming to New Zealand from Japan. This is our place, we live in the Southern Ocean.

Have you seen the movie “Whale Rider” (2002)?

In our tradition, whales are ancestors. If the Japanese tradition is to hunt them, they should do it in their traditional way in their traditional place. Here we watch them. When Japan’s hands are clean, please come back and we’ll show you.
