I have been reading about the dispute between Japan and South Korea regarding the islets of Takeshima/Dokdo and believe that there is a simple solution that would benefit both countries.
An international university should be built on these islets, a fully accredited institute where students can transfer their credits to any college or university worldwide. Both nations' educators would be in charge of the academics at this university, and with this location, oceanography and related subjects could be the key studies.
The cost of building the university should be shared equally by South Korea and Japan so as to eliminate either country's claiming control over it.
Politics should not be an obstacle to the creation of this new university; the focus must solely be on education. I doubt if either country's citizens would object to a new university being built for their children and future generations of both nations.
