Regarding the April 24 Kyodo article "Plant used bad breaker for decades": I have to say that I do not understand this level of corporate ineptitude, incompetence and failure of due diligence. Tokyo Electric Power Co. probably should not be allowed to run nuclear power stations, and one wonders if they should be involved in the electrical power industry at all.

To have known (since 1978) that the circuit breaker would be a problem in a major earthquake and to have done nothing to correct the problem is beyond appalling; it is openly criminal neglect.
