All four crew members were confirmed dead on Tuesday after rescuers found the wreckage of a Ground Self-Defense Force aircraft that disappeared from radar Monday in a mountainous area of Hokkaido.
Police and rescue workers found pieces of the aircraft scattered over a wide swath around 3 km from the peak of Mount Hakamagoshi in the city of Hokuto.
The Air Self-Defense Force confirmed sightings of the wreckage, which saw metal parts of the plane scattered into small pieces, making it difficult to recognize the original airframe.
