Japanese and African leaders will seek at their summit late this month to combat the growing threats of terrorism, military conflicts and violent radicalism through the promotion of education and job creation, according to a draft of their declaration obtained by Kyodo News on Sunday.

The declaration will be adopted at the sixth summit of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development in Nairobi on Aug. 27 to 28, with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe participating.

A senior official of the Foreign Ministry in Tokyo said the declaration will advocate uniquely Japanese-style aid designed to modernize natural resource-reliant economies in Africa.
