Taiwan's Council of Agriculture and Gotemba, Shizuoka Prefecture, have signed a letter of intent to cooperate on the city's school lunch program in a new cooperation model meant to strengthen ties between the two sides.
Gotemba Mayor Yohei Wakabayashi said Tuesday he hopes the cooperation will eventually extend from the city to other municipalities in Shizuoka and eventually Japan as a whole.
"Signing the deal is not the end, but the beginning," he said.
