A black suitcase containing a woman's body was found floating in a Tokyo canal.
The suitcase, measuring 50 cm in length, 30 cm in width and 70 cm in height, contained the body of a woman who appeared to be in her 30s or 40s, the police said Monday. The body was wearing a camisole and short pants.
Police are trying to identify the woman. The cause of death remains a mystery, and the corpse had no obvious injuries.
According to the police, a man on a boat going through the Keihin Canal in Shinagawa Ward spotted the floating suitcase at around 1:30 p.m. Monday. The woman had brown hair.
The suitcase was found east of Tennozu Isle Station on the Tokyo Monorail, close to hotels and a theater.
