Evacuees in the town of Mashiki, Kumamoto Prefecture, began moving into temporary housing units Tuesday, two months after two major earthquakes forced them from their homes.

More than 2,000 residents have been seeking shelter in Mashiki, one of the Kumamoto communities hit hardest by the magnitude-6.5 and magnitude-7.3 quakes of April 14 and 16.

On Tuesday, 88 housing units were offered by the town, while another 888 units are currently under constriction.
