Energy ministers from the Group of Seven nations agreed Monday on the need to strengthen energy security and promote investment in the sector, as low prices and other emerging issues threaten to destabilize supply.

The ministers gathered in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture, for two days of talks as low oil prices have left energy firms cautious about investing in resources development, while global warming has highlighted the need for new technology.

Increasing international disputes and disasters are also threatening to disrupt stable procurement.
