Sony Corp. said Wednesday it is recalling more than 58,000 battery packs manufactured by Panasonic Corp. for use in Vaio notebook computers, as they could catch fire.

Fujitsu Ltd. and Toshiba Corp. are also recalling Panasonic battery packs installed in their computers due to the risk of fire.

The Sony recall covers 58,150 battery packs installed in Vaio computers put on the market in February 2013, including 465 packs in Japan. Problematic battery packs may have been installed in other computers during repairs, Sony added.

Sony said it has not received any reports of fire so far.
