The body of a 61-year-old Japanese woman that was recently found in a graveyard in Dhaka was exhumed Friday for an autopsy, Bangladeshi police sources said.

Police had earlier obtained a court order to determine the cause of Hiroe Miyata's death, the sources said. Her body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for the autopsy, according to a graveyard official.

Sohel Mahmud, the doctor in charge of the autopsy, said it could not be ascertained whether the body bore any injuries due to the extent of decomposition but that necessary samples have been collected for DNA and other testing.

Miyata was allegedly killed and buried secretly in the capital about a month ago.

The incident surfaced after a Japanese Embassy official in Dhaka filed an inquiry with the local police last week, saying the woman could not be contacted by her mother in Japan since Oct. 26.

Police have since arrested five men, including one of her business partners, in connection with her death.
