The government is considering holding the next trilateral summit involving Japan, China and South Korea in May next year, the same month Japan hosts the Group of Seven summit, diplomatic sources said.

In a sign of improvement, the leaders of the three countries agreed Sunday in their summit in Seoul to revive the annual trilateral summit, with a plan to meet in Japan next year.

In prior consultations for the summit in Seoul, Japan told China and South Korea about its plan to hold the summit around May if the three leaders would agree on reviving it, the sources said Wednesday.
