Three people were injured when a suspected tornado touched down Monday in Kanagawa Prefecture, according to the Meteorological Agency and the police.

A 27-year-old man in the city of Fujisawa suffered a broken leg when he was struck by a panel blown by a strong gust of wind, and a 73-year-old woman in Yokohama broke a toe when her foot was struck by an iron sheet.

A junior high school girl in Fujisawa incurred a slight injury when a gust blew her to the ground while she was on her way home.

Strong winds ripped off parts of roofs, broke windows and knocked down trees in Fujisawa and Yokohama. Electricity lines were knocked down, causing a temporarily outage affecting about 1,200 homes in Fujisawa starting at around 2:45 p.m.
