Tokyo Tower will be illuminated in blue, pink and white to cheer on the national soccer team Sunday evening before they take on the United States at the Women's World Cup final, the Japan Football Association said.

From sunset to 10 p.m., the 333-meter-high landmark will switch its usual red lights to the colors worn by Nadeshiko, the female team's flowery nickname.

The world champions will face the Olympic champion and 2011 World Cup runners-up in Vancouver on Monday at 8 a.m. Japan time.

The JFA said the tower will sport the same colors again on Monday night if Japan repeats as champion.

Japan won the 2011 World Cup on penalties after regulation time ended in a 2-2 draw. But the Americans exacted revenge in the final of the 2012 London Olympics with a 2-1 victory.
