The industry body that represents Japanese aquariums and zoos ended its two-day general meeting Friday with some members expressing dissatisfaction with its recent ban on acquiring dolphins caught in drive hunts, but there were no resignations over the issue.

The Japanese Association of Zoos and Aquariums will now discuss how to amend its rules and draft potential penalties for members that flout the ban and continue to acquire dolphins for their collections from fishermen at Taiji, Wakayama Prefecture.

"While there was dissatisfaction and concerns were voiced at the meeting, our ban has been decided, so we will set punishments" based on expulsion, JAZA Chairman Kazutoshi Arai told a news conference following the annual general meeting in Himeji, Hyogo Prefecture.
