Sapporo Clock Tower has long been haunted by word it is one of the dullest tourist spots in the country.
Many visitors feel deflated by the structure's small size, a sentiment intensified by the surrounding throng of high-rise office blocks. Some have trouble simply locating it.
But the tower is now getting a helping hand from an unusually fearsome character mascot that has reportedly reduced small children to tears.
