Aiko Okazaki, one of the most seriously injured survivors of the deadly Amagasaki train derailment in Hyogo Prefecture in 2005, has taken a positive outlook on life since returning from the verge of death.

A decade after the accident killed 107 commuters on the JR Fukuchiyama Line, Okazaki, 29, has published a book mostly depicting her struggle living with spinal cord damage that left her paralyzed from the hips down.

"It was very tough to write about the difficult times," including the emotional pain and injury that almost killed her several times afterward, said Okazaki, who still needs a wheelchair to move around.
