Tickets for the first services on the Hokuriku Shinkansen Line sold out in 25 seconds, the operators of the new route said Saturday.

East Japan Railway Co. and West Japan Railway Co. began selling a total of 934 reserved seat tickets on Saturday morning for the first shinkansen to depart Tokyo Station bound for Kanazawa Station on March 14 and for the first bullet train making the reverse trip.

According to the operators, 18 Gran Class — or super first class — tickets that went on sale Saturday and 63 Green Car — first class — tickets sold out within 10 seconds.

The Kagayaki bullet trains will cover the route between Tokyo and Kanazawa in just 2½ hours.
