A 36-year-old member of the Chinese Dragon underworld group has been arrested on attempted murder charges in connection with the May assault of a male acquaintance at a bar in Tokyo's Roppongi district, the Metropolitan Police Department said.

Nobuaki Takahashi fled Japan after the May incident and was at large in Thailand, police said. He was detained at a Thai airport by local authorities on Dec. 10 and was flown back to Tokyo's Haneda airport on Tuesday, at which point he was arrested.

Takahashi has told investigators he "has nothing to say," according to the MPD.

Takahashi, who ran the Roppongi bar, is suspected of stabbing the acquaintance, a 27-year-old Ghanaian national, with a knife and beating him with a cue stick. The Ghanaian man's injuries required two weeks of medical treatment, police said.
