Honda Motor Co. will roll out the redesigned fifth-generation Legend in Japan in January with the aim of restoring its image following recalls in the home market.

Honda said Monday that the new flagship luxury sedan containing the latest technology will be powered by a hybrid system with a combination of three electric motors and a 3.5-liter V-6 gasoline engine to offer a fuel economy of 16.8 km per liter.

The Legend, known overseas as the Acura RLX, will debut in Japan on Jan. 22 with a price tag of ¥6.8 million following its introduction in the U.S., Canada and Mexico last year. The company will also launch the model in China, though the exact schedule has yet to be disclosed.
