AirAsia group launches Japan-Bangkok flights

JIJI

The Thai affiliate of Malaysian low-cost carrier AirAsia launched flight services between Japan and Bangkok on Monday.

Thai AirAsia X links Don Mueang International Airport in the Thai capital with Narita and Kansai airports using 377-seat A330 jets manufactured by Airbus SAS.

There will be daily round-trip flights from Narita and five a week from Kansai.

The AirAsia group is the first LCC to offer services connecting Thailand with Narita or Kansai.

The group aims to attract customers by selling tickets for 30 to 50 percent less than the major airlines.

The number of tourists to Japan has risen sharply since the government started granting visa exemptions to short-term Thai travelers in July of last year.
