Sharp to boost LCD module output at Chinese plant in Wuxi

Sharp Corp. unveiled a plan this week with Chinese municipal leaders to add three more production lines to its liquid crystal display module plant in Wuxi, Jiangsu province, city officials said.

The additional capacity is expected to boost sales by more than 3 billion yuan.

The plan was unveiled by Sharp President Kozo Takahashi on Tuesday during a meeting with Wuxi Mayor Wang Quan, local officials said.

Takahashi told Wang the move is designed to meet growing demand for small and midsize LCD panels.
