Yahoo Japan to start genome analysis service

JIJI

Major Internet portal Yahoo Japan Corp. said Monday that it will start a genome analysis service in October.

Users will receive the results of analyses showing the degrees of risk they face for lifestyle-related diseases such as diabetes and strokes as well as information on their predispositions, including tolerance to alcohol.

In the future, Yahoo Japan will also consider offering a service to support users’ health management by registering data on their amounts of physical exercise, sleeping hours and body weights.

Based on the genomic and other information, Yahoo Japan plans to offer health advice to users.
