MOSCOW – Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev announced on Thursday retaliatory food import bans for countries that have imposed sanctions against Russia over the Ukraine crisis, but Japan was not on the list.
Japan has introduced a number of sanctions, including a ban on wine from Crimea, the southern Ukrainian region annexed by Russia in March.
The move by Russia includes a ban imports of vegetables, fruit, meat, fish and dairy products from the United States, the European Union, Australia, Canada and Norway.
Medvedev also said that Ukrainian airlines will be barred from airports in Russia on flights to Azerbaijan, Greece, Armenia and Turkey.
Russia is also considering bans on U.S. and European air carriers, and may review fees it charges for flights over Siberia, Medvedev said.
