A gas canister for a cassette stove burner exploded during a summer festival at Kameido Tenjin Shrine in Koto Ward, Tokyo, on Saturday evening, injuring four people, police and firefighters said.

The explosion occurred at around 6:50 p.m. The burner was reportedly being used to heat frankfurter sausages in a pot at one of the stalls at the "bon odori" (bon dance) festival.

The four people near the stall were taken to a hospital but their injuries were not serious, according to the Tokyo Fire Department. Police are investigating the cause of the blast.

Local communities in the area organize the annual summer festival at Kameido Tenjin Shrine, which is known as the prime location in Tokyo for viewing wisterias.
