Liberal Democratic Party Vice President Masahiko Komura said Sunday that he told a Chinese official in May he does not believe Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will make another visit to war-linked Yasukuni Shrine.

The Chinese side "listened to" the remark, the former foreign minister said without identifying the official.

Komura led a Diet delegation to China that month and met officials including Zhang Dejiang, third in the Chinese Communist Party's powerful Politburo Standing Committee.
