Japan on Tuesday approved reinterpreting the pacifist Constitution to enable the use of the right to collective self-defense in a major overhaul of postwar security policy.
The Cabinet of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe endorsed the change hours after it was agreed on by the ruling bloc of the Liberal Democratic Party and New Komeito party in a review of legal constraints on the Self-Defense Forces.
