NTT Docomo Inc. said Monday it has received 1.2 million applications for new monthly fee plans that take effect at the beginning of June.
A Docomo official said the new plans have been more popular than expected.
“More than 60 percent of the applicants are subscribers in their 40s or older,” the official said.
The plans are unprecedented in that they allow subscribers to share monthly data quotas with family members. Other features include discounts for long-term users and customers aged 25 or younger.
After the new plans were announced April 10, SoftBank Mobile Corp. put off the introduction of its new billing plans.
