Industrial output in March grew by a seasonally adjusted 0.7 percent from the previous month, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said Friday in revising the initially reported figure of 0.3 percent.

The index of output at factories and mines came to 102.2 against the base of 100 for 2010.

METI attributed the upgrade partly to additional data provided by general machinery and fabricated metal makers that weren't reflected in the preliminary report issued April 30.

The index of industrial shipments was also revised upward, posting a 0.2 percent decline rather than the initially reported fall of 1.2 percent. The industrial inventories index was up 1.4 percent, against an earlier reported 1.8 percent rise.
