Sony Corp. may suspend the development of organic light-emitting diode TVs for home use so it can focus resources on making products with stronger demand and improve the profitability of its flagging TV business, company sources said Tuesday.

Sony is planning to shift its OLED TV personnel to making 4K liquid crystal TVs, which display images four times sharper than current high-definition sets and are expected to attract bigger demand, the sources said. Sony dissolved its OLED TV display partnership with Panasonic Corp. late last year.

South Korean rivals LG Electronics Inc. and Samsung Electronics Co. are leading in sales of OLED TVs, but the outlook for the market remains uncertain, given the products' high price tags.
